Obstetrics Q & A
What is obstetrics?
Obstetrics is an area of medicine specializing in the health needs of women before, during, and after pregnancy. Jennifer is a certified nurse-midwife and advanced nurse practitioner who’s been providing care for women throughout each stage of their life for more than 20 years and has delivered over 2,000 babies.
With obstetrics care at Luxe Women's Health, Jennifer focuses on caring for you and your baby and sets the foundation for a healthy start to designing and implementing your birth plan. She partners with you from conception to birth and beyond.
When should I start obstetrics care?
Jennifer recommends you start obstetrics care at Luxe Women's Health as soon as you discover you’re pregnant. Early and regular obstetrics care ensures you and your baby stay healthy and happy throughout the entire pregnancy.
At your first appointment, Jennifer confirms your pregnancy and estimates your due date. She also conducts a comprehensive history and physical, which may include:
- Review of your medical, gynecological, and sexual history
- Review of your partner’s medical and sexual history
- Physical exam
- Pelvic exam
- Pap smear
- Testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
- Blood work
- Urinalysis
She also spends time answering all of your questions, including your birth plan. Jennifer schedules regular follow-up appointments monthly, bimonthly, or weekly based on your weeks of gestation and personal health needs.
What are the obstetrics services?
In addition to your regular obstetric check-up appointments, Jennifer also offers many specialized obstetric services at Luxe Women's Health:
SneakPeek® early DNA test
The SneakPeek early DNA test determines the sex of your baby as early as eight weeks gestation. For the test, Jennifer refers you to a professional phlebotomist who sends the blood sample out for testing. The testing center emails the results directly to you the next day.
Luxe Women's Health offers the SneakPeek early DNA test to all women living in and around Queen Creek. You don’t have to be a patient to get access to the test.
In-house ultrasound testing
Luxe Women's Health offers in-house ultrasound testing. Jennifer may perform your first ultrasound test at your initial obstetrics care visit and additional testing during your second or third trimester.
Postnatal care
Jennifer is a women’s health advocate and wants nothing more than for you to be healthy throughout every stage of your life. To optimize health after you have the baby, she provides comprehensive postnatal care. During these visits, she assesses your physical, emotional, and mental well-being and provides services that help you adjust to life with a new baby.
For personalized obstetrics care from an experienced OB/GYN practitioner, call Luxe Women's Health, or schedule an appointment online today.

Pregnancy is a journey and we are here to guide you through every milestone leading up to birth and everything that follows for you and your family. At Luxe Women’s Health, our nurse practitioner and team are here to provide women with the support, resources, and care they need to feel confident, safe, and healthy throughout every stage of their pregnancy.
Building Relationships, Respecting Your Needs
Obstetric services are focused on caring for a woman and her unborn child during pregnancy. From helping you set the foundation for a healthy pregnancy to designing and putting a birthing plan into place, we are your partner from the beginning of your first trimester until the birth of your baby — and beyond.
When Should I See an Ob/Gyn?
You should schedule your first obstetric appointment as soon as you discover that you have become pregnant. Your obstetrician will confirm your pregnancy and depending on whether your pregnancy is considered high risk, may ask you to return for prenatal appointments monthly, bimonthly, or according to a schedule designed to offer you the healthiest pregnancy possible.
